 The quarterly meeting was held in the Church School, Dean on Friday evening. Present: -

 The chairman thanked the Council for electing him chairman. Mr. MCLELLAN asked if anything had been done in respect to the matters mentioned in the minutes.
 
 The Chairman said in respect to the Dean complaint the surveyor had visited the place, and said he thought the fault was higher up the stream. Mr. MCCLELLAN said he did not quite agree with the surveyor. He thought the beckcourse wanted opening out lower down. In regard with the Deanscale complaint the surveyor had the matter in hand.
 
 A letter was read from the Lamplugh Parish Council clerk, in regard to their application for a crane at Lamplugh Station. Mr. MCCLELLAN spoke on the matter, and moved, and Mr. BRISCOE seconded, that the letter lie on the table. Mr. A. MCCLELLAN moved as an amendment that the Clerk be instructed to reply to the Lamplugh Council that this Council will support them if they make a demand for one. Mr. T. BEEBY seconded. The amendment carried.
 
 A letter was read from the assistant overseer, asking for an increase in salary. Mr. PEARSON asked if the work had increased.
 
 The Clerk: It was 16 years since I last had an increase of salary.
 
 Mr. MCCLELLAN asked what was the amount of rates collected. The Clerk said it was about £874. Mr. MCCLELLAN said as a preliminary something had to be done. Living was dearer now than previously. Things were much dearer now, very near a quarter dearer. Mr. BRISCOE moved that the Clerk’s salary be increased by £5. - Mr. W. JACKSON seconded. Mr. PEARSON moved as an amendment that it be increased by £3, but it received no seconder. The motion was carried.
 
 To the Clerk on being called into the room again, the Chairman said he had great pleasure in informing him that his salary was increased by £5. The Clerk thanked the Council for their kindness.
