result of examination, an entrance scholarship of £60 for Mathematics at Gouville and Caius College, Cambridge.
He is the eldest son of Mr. John FORSYTH, late of Trumpet Terrace,
Cleator, and grandson of Captain James PETERS, Maryport. In 1894 he won a local scholarship and proceeded to the Royal Grammar School, Lancaster, and has worked his way to the head of the school. In 1898 in the Junior Cambridge
University Local Examination, he took First Class, with six distinctions, and in 1900, as a Senior, he was returned again in the First Class with five distinctions.
In additon to this he has been a successful candidate twice for
Lancashire County Council Exhibitions, being first and second respectively on the two occasions among the candidates who were successful in commercial subject.
