Of all the losses, crosses and unfortunate events which occur to the farmer, the grazier, or the agriculturists, perhaps there are none of so deplorable a nature as the continued death of cattle.
On Saturday last the cattle of Mr. Joseph ROBINSON, of Bongate Mill, became suddenly effected with a disease termed the pleuro neumonia or inflammatory epidemic, a disease for which there is no preventative, and up to this day (Thursday), five cows, one bull, and one calf have died since that time.
The disease principally affects the throat and lungs, and causes death in a few hours. Two of the bodies of the cows were opened, when the throat and lungs, together with nearly all the parts of the body, were found to be in a highly inflammatory condition. God speed the discovery of an immediate remedy to drive the disease from our lands!
