At Bladnoch, near Wigtown, on the 3rd inst., of consumption, Mr. Andrew Finlay BENNET, late of the Glasgow Free Press Office, son of Mr. Joseph BENNET, innkeeper, Bladnoch. He was endowed with talents of the very highest order, which he early devoted to literary pursuits, and gave promise of future eminence among the writers of the day. He was warm and steady in his friendships, and possessed a buoyancy of spirit which rose superior to protracted and painful disease, and rendered him the delight of his acquaintances, and the pride ot his family.
On the 29th ult., Lieut.-General Thomas William, fourth Earl of Pomfret, in the 63d year of his age.
Mrs. BROWN, of Sheltwood, in the parish of Tardebigg, Worcester, aged 97. She retained her faculties to the last, and a few hours previous to her decease repeated the Lord's Prayer audibly and accurately.— She has left 9 children, 28 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren, making a total of her descendants now living of 72. She was the eldest of 14 children, and survived her husband 40 years.
