The Theft of £100.

(Before the Mayor, W. H. KITCHIN,  G. W.
      KENWORTHY, AND J. WILSON, Esqurs.)

There was a good attendance at the White-
haven Police Court on Monday, when sentence
was passed upon the female prisoner in this case.
The case was one in which Sarah FOX, aged 15,
of no occupation, was charged with having
stolen between May of last year and the 15th
of February last, the sum of £100, the property
of Jane SALISBURY, of 12, Scotch-street,
Whitehaven.  John Rigg FOX, aged 52, sailor,
was also charged with having received the
money.  The latter prisoner, however, was on
Monday, the 15th inst., sentenced to six months'
imprisonment in Carlisle Gaol, the sentence on
the female prisoner being deferred until Monday
last.  After a prolonged consultation, prisoner
was ordered to be sent to a Reformatory until she
is 19 years of aged.
