Funeral at Corney.

There was a large assembly of people at Corney
on Sunday afternoon last to witness the interment of
the remains of the late William PRESTON, the son of
Mr. PRESTON, Woodside, Waberthwaite, and who
was a scholar at the Waberthwaite and Corney Day
School A large number of his school-fellows were
present. The coffin, which was covered with wreaths
and crosses, was borne from the hearse into the church,
and thence to its last resting place by some of the boys
who attended the same school as the deceased. Amongst
those who sent flowers were Wm. SHAW (High Kinmont),
cross; two wreaths, with R. and F. HOGGARTH'S (Langley)
"Deepest sympathy"; his loving brothers and sister; cross,
"Affectionate Remembrance," Jno. B. BRIGGS (Normoss);
cross with "Deepest sympathy," from E. S. ROTHERY;
wreath with Mrs. JENKINSON'S "Deepest sympathy";
wreath from Jno. ATKINSON (Mill Gate)' a beautiful cross
from B.P., "Suffer little children to come unto Me, for
such is the Kingdom of Heaven" ; wreath, "A last token
of love," from his schoolmaster.
