SALE AT HARLOCK RESERVOIR
On Tuesday MESSRS. LOWDEN & POSTLETHWAITE sold for MR. W. BRADLEY, of Millom, the whole of the engines, machinery, plant, horses, carts, gear, &c., used in the construction of the reservoir for the Barrow Corporation. The weather being fine, there was a large attendance, and satisfactory prices were realised.
NEW PREPARATORY SCHOOL AT SEASCALE
The plans of the school for MR. G. R. BURNETT, of Manx View, Seascale, have been passed by the Whitehaven Rural District Council, and the tender of MR. LAING, of Carlisle, and his sub-contractors has been accepted for the work. MESSRS. W. MASON & SON, F.R.I.B.A., Ambleside, are the architects. The contractor has made a start with the work. The building is the biggest contract hitherto in Seascale, and will give twelve months' employment to many hands.
TECHNICAL EDUCATION AT BECKERMET
A second course of nursing lectures by MISS HAYNES, County Council lecturer, was commenced in the district schoolroom, on Friday evening last. The attendance was very slight, only 19 being present.
VACCINATION EXEMPTION AT WORKINGTON
At the Workington Police-court, on Wednesday, on the application of MR. GEORGE BLACK, of the Bessemer Arms, Workington, a vaccination exemption order was granted for his child CLARA.
