FIVE YEARS WITHOUT A WEDDING AT WASDALE HEAD.

On Monday last the quiet remote dale parish of Wasdale Head was the scene of an interesting event, namely, the wedding of MR. CHARLES WHINFIELD, of Millom, who is a native of Eskdale, to MISS SARAH RICHARDSON, of Burnthwaite Farm, Wasdale Head.

The ceremony took place at two o'clock, and the church bell rang forth its merry chime that the hour had come when the happy pair presented themselves to have the nuptial knot tied.

The ceremony was performed by the new vicar (THE REV. W. M. PLUES), this being the first marriage service performed by the rev. gentleman.

The hymns selected were "Thine for ever" and "The Voice that breath'd o'er Eden".  MISS AMY PLUES presided at the organ.

The little church was fairly well filled with friends and visitors.

The rest of the day was spent in games and dancing.  MR. HENRY TYSON, Gosforth, supplied the music.
