On Monday se'nnight, an accident of a very serious character occurred
near to Milestone House, Penrith.

I appears that about half past seven o'clock, Mr. Issac BAINBRIDGE, of
Rigg Dyke, Unthank, and Mr. John BAINBRIDGE, of Throstle Hall, Caldbeck, were
driving home from Penrith fair, and when they came near to Mr. BIRD's, Long
Ashes, the horse shied at a cow that was being driven along the road. The
conveyance was backed down to the side of the road, and thrown over, and its
occupants were violently thrown out.

Mr. Issac BAINBRIDGE having five ribs fractured, and his companion
sustaining a dislocation of the elbow.
