            CLEATOR MOOR LIBERALS

       These teams met on Tuesday night last at the Whitehaven Working Men's
Institute, Queen-street, in the second round of the Shield Competition. The
Cleator Moor Liberals proved to be too good for their opponents, and won four
games out of six, and secured a victory by 115 points.

       R. MACKIE made a break of 22, H. NEVINSON 21 and 19, J. ROWE 20, and
E. WAITING 21, all Cleator Moor cuists. None of the Workington Liberals were
successful in making a break of 20 or over. Mr. J. RODGERSON and Mr. J. GRAHAM
officiated as referees and Mr. W. EDWARDS as marker.

       At the conclusion of the game Mr. J. ROWE, thecaptain of the Cleator
Moor Liberals, proposed a vote of thanks to the committee of the working Men's
Institute for the use of the table. Mr. W. GUNN, who captained the Workington
Liberals, seconded the proposal, which was carried unanimously. Mr. J.
RODGERSON suitably responded. The following is the return: -
