ARLECDON DISTRICT ITEMS.
On Tuesday evening a most entertaining and instructive lantern lecture
entitled "Trouble and Toils in City Slums," was given in Arlecdon Sunday
Schools by the Rev. S. J. HARRIS, M. A., assisted by the Rev. W. TAYLOR, vicar.
The Lantern Lecture was given to the children first, and to the adults
afterwards. The proceeds were in aid of the Church Pastoral Aid Society.
On Tuesday afternoon a public tea was given by Mrs. MARLOW,
Frizington, in aid of the Arlecdon Church restoration was held in the Arlecdon Sunday
School, when a good number sat down to tables presided over by Mrs. MARLOW
assisted by Mrs. WILSON and others.
On Tuesday night the Rowrah Wesleyan Choir gave a capital rendering of
the service of song entitled, "Old Davie," in the Wesleyan Chapel,
Frizington. Mr. John THOMPSON, the leader of the choir, conducted and Miss. MOSSOP
accompanied on the organ.
The chair was occupied by Mr. W. METCALF, J. N. evangelist,
Frizington, and Mr. John MOSSOP, jun., gave the connective readings. At the close a
hearty vote of thanks was accorded the members of the choir, on the motion of Mr.
