BOULTON.
Miss. KESWICK, Eskrigg, presided at the monthly meeting at which twenty
members were present. A lecture was given by Dr. Mabel BARKER, Caldbeck, on
"The Middle Ages - castle and abbey, villages, markets and forests." She was
accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mrs. WILSON, seconded by
Mrs. J. HARRISON. There were some splendid exhibits in a baking competition, and
the prize winners were as follows:
Fruit cake:

Fruit pie:

2. Mrs. MAGNAY
Scones:
1. Miss. J. WILSON
2. Miss. KESWICK
Small pastries:

Mrs. MORTON of Wigton judged the entries, and was extended a vote of thanks
by Miss. KESWICK. Mrs. WILSON was appointed delegate to the Spring Council
meeting at Cockermouth. The entertainment arranged by the Misses. HENDERSON
consisted of a competition, drawing for and naming a doll, and was won by Mrs.
COULTHARD. The prize was given by Miss. HENDERSON. The usual cooperative supper
was served. The hostesses were:
