A letter has been received by Messrs. BARING, BROTHERS & Co., the consignees of the cotton manufactured goods which have been detained by the custom-house officers, from the Secretary to the Commissioners of the Customs who says: -

“I have it in command to acquaint you that, satisfactory proof having now been adduced that there are no mills called the “Stark Mills” at Manchester, but that they are well known in the United States, the commissioners have directed the delivery of the goods. I am, at the same time, to express the regret of the board that any delay, though unavoidable, should have taken place in a matter not unattended with difficulty, although they are fully satisfied of the upright and honorable intentions of your firm.”
