A public meeting was held in the Crosthwaite Sunday School, High Hill, Keswick, on Thursday evening last, in the favour of the British and Foreign Bible Society, James STANGER, Esq., in the chair.
The Rev. G. BROWN, one of the secretaries of the Parent Society, gave some very interesting details respecting the operations and success of the society in foreign parts.
The Rev Mr. WILKINSON, of Thornthwaite, who has been a resident in India for the past twenty years, also addressed the meeting, and communicated some pleasing facts which came under his own observation whilst resident in that part of the globe.
The meeting was also addressed by the Rev. F. MYERS, and at the close of the proceedings a collection was made, which amounted to the very liberal sum of nearly eight pounds.
