A general meeting of the Pitmen's Union from England, Ireland, and Wales, commenced in a large room in Ridley's Court, Newcastle, on Monday week, and closed on Thursday last.

Though the nature of the business transacted has not transpired, it is understood that the speakers generally expressed a strong feeling against mixing politics with their proceedings, and especially against any advocasy of the charter.

At the conclusion, two places were proposed for the next general meeting, viz -- Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Manchester, when the latter place was decided upon : the meeting to commence on the 1st of January, 1844.
