CUMBERLAND CLIMBER’S FEAT.
One of the members of the Canadian party who have ascended the highest peak (11,102 feet) of the White Horn range in the Canadian Rockies is a noted Cumberland climber, says a Penrith correspondent.
Mr. Horace WESTMORLAND is the only son of the late Mr. Thomas WESTMORLAND of Penrith, and two years ago went to Canada.
Before going West Mr. WESTMORLAND had made a name as a clever rock climber on the Lakeland mountains. He comes from a family noted for their powers as cragsmen, and one of the climbs is still known as “the Westmorland Brothers Climb” - after Mr. Horace WESTMORLAND’s father and uncle.
