STICK IN THE MUD.
Owing to a defective gate a bull, belonging to Mr. Adam SCOTT, of Oak Head Farm, recently got into a plantation, part of which is edged by a pond, deep in mud.
The animal in its peregrinations stepped into the mud and immediately became engulfed up to the haunches. It is surmised that the bull had spent a whole night in this position, for when it was discovered by its owner it had become greatly exhausted with efforts to reach terra firma.
Mr. SCOTT at once called for help, and ropes having been secured round the animal, it was hauled out of the quagmire and turned into a safer pasture, there to ruminate on the pains and penalties which follow in the wake of wayward bulls of acute inquisitiveness.
