BLACKGUARDLY OFFENCES.

 Martin FARRAGH, (34), collier, 10, James Place, Whitehaven, was charged with having used obscene language on the West Strand, at 11-20 p.m. on the 26th July.
 
 P. C. WALLEY gave evidence and defendant was fined 15s it being the fourth time in twelve months for the same offence, 31st July being the last.
 
 The Chairman said if defendant was up for this blackguardly offence again he would not be given time again.

 Isabella WILKINSON (48), widow, 8, McGARRY’s Buildings, was charged with having used indecent language within hearing of the public, at 6-45 p.m. on the 29th July.
 
 P. C. JACKSON said the defendant was in her own home at the time.
 
 Defendant: The police should be up yonder oftener.
 
 The Chairman: To look after you? (Laughter.)
 
 Defendant was fined 10s, or seven days imprisonment.

 Wm. SIMPSON (45), Catherine Place, Wellington, Whitehaven, was charged with having used indecent language within hearing of Catherine Place, at 7 p.m. on the 26th July.
 
 P. C. JACKSON gave evidence, Defendant was in his house at the time.
 
 He was fined 10s or seven days imprisonment.

 Catherine PLINKINGTON (40), widow, Hamilton Place, Whitehaven, was charged with a similar offence within the hearing of Queen Street, at 11-20 p.m. on the 26th July.
 
 P. C. MITCHINSON proved the case and defendant was fined 10s or seven days imprisonment.

 Bernard DOLOUGHAN and Jos. DONNAGHAN, both of Harrington, were charged with having used obscene language at Harrington, at 11-20 p.m. on the 26th July.
 
 P. C. JOHNSTONE proved the charges, and defendants were fined 10s each, or seven days imprisonment.
