ST. JOHN’S CHURCH
HENSINGHAM.
______

There were large congregations at the above church at all the services on Sunday last, when special services were delivered by the Right Rev.  The Bishop of Barrow-in-Furness. The Vicar conducted the services.

The Bishop preached in the morning from the subject “One Flock and One Shepherd.” In the afternoon the children’s flower service was held, which was well attended by parents and children. The bishop gave a most appropriate address on “My Garden,” and spoke on the following flowers, Violet (humble), Rose (love), Lily (purity), Sunflower (truthful), which was most interesting and instructive.

Gifts of flowers and fruit of all kinds were brought by the children, which were sent to the Whitehaven Infirmary. A collection was also taken for the same object. The church was full at the night service, and the Bishop again preached a most appropriate sermon. The service throughout was most elevating and deeply spiritual.
