ACCIDENT.
Yesterday, Friday, afternoon, a young man named CAULDER had his feet
severely crushed at the Moss Bay Iron Works whilst following his employment. He
was conveyed to his home in Church Street, and attended by Dr. McKERROW, and
is now progressing favourably.

ACCIDENT TO WORKMAN.

A workman named PEAKER, in the employ of Messrs Charles CAMMELL and
Company was seriously injured on Tuesday. PEAKER fell from a height of about
twenty feet to the ground, a lighting on his head and back. Fears were
entertained that the man was killed, but it was found that he had sustained concussion
of the brain.
Dr. McKERROW was summoned, and attended the injured man, who is in a
precarious condition.

THE FIRST BALL OF THE SEASON.
It is announced (next few lines blurred)...The Ball is the first of the
season, and it's object is to aid members of St. John's Drum and Fife Band to
purchase brass instruments for the purpose of forming a brass band. Already
a sum of money is in the bank to their credit, raised by subscriptions, and
more is promised.
It is to be hoped that the Ball will be a success. The services of the
Cockermouth Orchestral String Band are engaged, it being one of the best in
the country.
